Square drive is welcome in Actual Screws

This is just one of the ways companies attemot to violate our right to repair.

Not quite, square and star bits are really nice on long deck screws
Taylor · 85w
To be serious on a funny post, I think this analogy only works with bolts and nuts.

Torx (6-lobe) is better for high torque and impact applications. Other than that, spot on.
Mega · 85w
The Phillips/slot combo is fine…. Yes to the rest
Râu Cao ⚡ · 85w
PZ is better than plain Phillips, and Torx is my preference for everything. Square and hex are OK, too. Slotted is an unfortunate relic from the past.
Adam Snyder · 85w
No. Straight slot is common but it's inferior to pretty much everything. Square is underrated. Star/torque are great for denser materials/lag screws/less experienced people

six-lobe are aka Torx, and fairly common on electronics, and the best is hexagon aka "allan key" not for nothing they are the standard for skateboards, they are the most durable coupling
NaturalNerd · 85w
Philips suck, they are too easy to strip. I use torx for almost everything I build
Jordan Richner · 85w
Slotted is like gold. Old tech, not suitable for modern power tools, but useful in certain applications. Phillips is fiat garbage. Intentionally designed to cam out to prevent ignorant factory workers from over tightening screws. Torx (six-lobe) just works. Like Bitcoin, it should be the new globa...

this is so funny. I really love torx.

If you don't able to fix your stuff it isn't your stuff!
Adeptus · 85w
No. As much as or seems to be reinventing the wheel, there are many reasons that different drive types have been developed. (Security, torque limiting, etc.) Example- Robertson screw. (Commonly mistaken for the modern square drive) -Allows for cold stamping the screw head. -Low installation tor...

I'm here to advocate for the torx screw to be added to this list
Mark Puddleglum · 85w
I'm a cyclist, bike freak: Hex and torx are golden.
wil · 85w
Six-lobes never strip
Armchair Intellectual · 85w
I like square bit. Easier than flathead more torque than Philips
nobody · 85w
Hell nah! Using most of them in the manufacturing line.
