There's an old story from the hopi tribe in northern AZ...
A being of some importance, a caretaker of the tribe, was approached by a member of the tribe who begged for help. The world had gone crazy it seemed to the man, and it has long been prophesied that the caretaker would come to help when things were truly bad.
The caretaker/being/protector asked him, "did you know that your father came to me with these same concerns, and before him his father?"
The point was that things (generationally at least) get bad and get better in cycles, but you will know, without question when they are REALLY bad.
He told the man to go home. It wasn't the time for the being to intervene.
