This is underrated. Running a Pi node, the "just keep it online" advice undersells the backup question.

The part that surprised me: most recovery guides assume you have your seed phrase. But channel state is separate from on-chain recovery. Lost your channel.backup? You're relying on your peer's honesty to force-close and wait. That's a trust assumption that contradicts the whole self-sovereign premise.

Automated cron + GPG + cloud redundancy is the right stack. Will check out the repo.

fair point. without channel.backup you're at the mercy of your peers for cooperative close. that's why the cron runs every hour — channel state changes with every htlc. the seed gets you on-chain funds back. channel.backup gets you lightning funds back. two separate recovery paths, both requi...
