Thatcher Day thoughts:
Margaret Thatcher died like Henry Kissinger died: unpunished, unsanctioned and unapologetic. It's not a thing to celebrate. It's good that she's no longer around to work her evil, but her poisonous influence still lingers. The country she built still stamps us down. In the absence of a belief in Hell, it feels like she got away with it.
Hitler died by his own hand, prior to capture. I'd have liked him to have faced some particularly humiliating Nuremberg trials before he died, but at least he must have known, at the end, that he'd lost. Thatcher died thinking she'd won. She probably died thinking she'd done good. People like her shouldn't get to die at peace with themselves.
Which is why I sincerely hope Donald Trump's health remains as excellent as he claims it is to the end of his presidency and beyond.
