I'm Gen X.

I know that this is going to be hard to comprehend for younger generations, but...

When I was 14 years old, I could walk into a 7-Eleven, and buy a six pack of beer, a pack of Marlboros, and a Playboy. No KYC

As long as you were home before the streetlights came on, you were good. 😆

Having a classmate show off their new rifle, or bringing it so they can use it after school, was normal.

The younger people have no idea how much has changed. Of course far beyond KYC. Even the last 10 years has been wild to witness.

I'd get sent to the store to buy Cigs with a note from my mother at 12 years old 😆

Fourteen-year-old boys in that era were very happy.

I'm a Millennial and spent my 14 yo days walking around the neighborhood with friends, singing songs, going to the grocery store for mangos and jojos, and we'd stay out until past dark. Only some of us had cell phones. Our parents trusted we were safe and for the most part, we were 😊

It wasn’t about beer or magazines. It was about not needing permission to exist.

Ditto, when I was 12 I could be in another city on my BMX bike, just to spend my quarter on a game of asteroids. “Just be home for dinner”
