I haven't read through the replies, so I'm sure this is covered many times, but I see two separate questions:
purchasing btc on CB
keeping your btc on CB
Step one: get that btc off of Coinbase. Learn to self custody, maybe starting with smaller amounts, but start this process ASAP
Then, later, figure out if that's where you want to buy your btc going forward.
