My frugal method has been to take the initial build from a vibe coding service (Shakespeare/MK Stack/v0) and copy that code into VSCode. Then I'll iterate, build, test using the GitHub Copilot extension.

I've been using the cheapest tier of Github copilot. You get a limited amount of Premium Requests, but you can use some models an unlimited amount. I juggle different models as I go. GPT 5 mini is unlimited, but needs it's hand held quite a bit. If it gets off track, I'll switch to Claude to clean things up. I find it's pretty easy to find the right balance.
