Nothing is black and white, for me Monero is the only relevant Altcoin (as opposed to all the other shipcoins) BTC for store of value and unimportant transactions, Monero for private "cash-like" trans...

Another point besides privacy that I REALLY LIKE on Monero is the ASIC mining resistance.
Lot's of folks (me included) just don't have $$$ to buy and run ASIC to mine Bitcoin BUT I do have access to cheap CPU and GPUs what allows me to mine some Monero instead buying it.
