What if you meet a Jennifer but dont know her surname, so you just leave it empty, now they are mixed. Now you can use suffix part to remember who she was without knowing her surname.
Suffix part works fine for me as a "nickname"-ish field.
I use suffix part for the nicknames, because many contact apps ignore nickname on the list, or search. suffix field just works for nicknames.
