If you really think about it, there really shouldn’t even be stocks. Companies got inflated to these stock levels by taking peoples money to subsidize the losses. Growing companies don’t really pay good dividends because they put that money into further growth. A company paying a dividend essentially has stopped growing and has too much money and therefore pays it to the shareholders. But shareholders don’t get bailed out when there is company losses. You’re told thats the risk, well why don’t the ones at the top ever get that risk? Companies should derive their value from their actual profit. If they sell alot, they make good profits. What part do shareholders play but to inflate those numbers and to be the liquidation for the ones on top? In a way, you’re long betting on companies and hoping to get out before the ones on the top.
