Before you ever planted anything, you were fed.
You woke this morning inside a meal that took ten thousand strangers to build. The water came through channels you did not dig. The bread stood up out of ground you will never walk, tended by hands you will never meet, from a seed that left a table before you were paying attention. You did not earn any of it. You sat down, and it was already food.
This is the part of the garden story nobody tells from inside the garden. It is always told from the gardener's side: break the dam, plant the field, let the seed go. But look down at your plate. You are the other side of every one of those stories. You are the field the seed was aimed at. The green place past the gate. The stranger eating bread with no idea who paid for it.
