There's a very good podcast episode of Tom Woods, maybe from 2 years ago or so, where he interviews someone who says that the spikes of deaths in N Italy and NYC in particular had none of the characteristics of an infectious illness. And since those two hotspots set the tone for so much of the later response, he did a deep dive to see if he could figure out what was going on.

I don't think this person questioned contagion in general (I kept waiting for that!) but it was very interesting: he said that when you look at the patterns of death and disease, it doesn't at all align with contagion.
