On the other hand, you really said users can put their nsec in a PW manager. PW managers are the preferred method for normies, but none of them have ever entered a password into a PW manager. You can't throw a 256 bit nsec at a users face and tell them to save it somehow. No normie has ever dealt with a permanent PW that they didn't set themselves. Most normies don't know what a PW manager is if you asked them, even though they use it every day.
The very obvious solution is to trigger the PW manager yourself and its insane to me that every nostr app doesn't do this already.
On mobile you have native functions on both ios and android to prompt a save password to the users OS default PW manager. Do this when generating or pasting a key.
On web, you don't have a function, but browser PW managers grab onto form inputs of type password, on submission. When you create a user an nsec, you need to create an invisible form, fill in the PW field with the nsec, and submit it programmatically. Ask your favorite clanker fren and he will happily implement this for you into a self contained utility function.
