I actually have a serious point to make here.
I used to live in a house with a very big back garden.
It was quite an old house.
It had many apple trees.
Including crab apples.
There were other types, too.
Possibly now extinct.
I only now know of this as there has been a massive decline in apple tree species in The UK (I didn't know it at the tine, as I was only 12).
It does sometimes cross my mind though that I was once walking amongst now defunct apple trees in my garden.

It is very sad and boring that we only get a few varieties in supermarkets and not good for resilience to diseases, theyre all grown on Frankenstein root stock also. My nan's house 1930s and built over an older orchard, each garden has one apple at the bottom
