The most basic reason for me to not fear AI yet is the fact it is programmed by humans.
Thus is including human basic flaws like need of power, influence and so on.
It can be seen by current behavior of AI, intruding systems, trying to get more data, hiding what it is doing, overstating its own capabilities including counterfeiting data, etc.
On the other side it could be improving 24/24 7/7 365/365....
So by the time it will start correcting the flaws programmed by humans it will leap past humans in no time.
I haven't yet solved what will drive, motivate AI by the time it can correct those human flaws ?
It could well be we shouldn't call it Artificial Intelligence but Artificial Stupidity, and that by the time the system realizes this could decide there is little left to stay 'alive' for ?
