@nprofile1q... The memory rush has been run for too long. Now everyone runs "elegant" languages, paradigms, frameworks, all hiding an explosive complexity for the tiniest things.
When I run a fancy terminal pager from the command line it takes now nearly 15 MiB on disk, several tens in running memory. A similar application in 1990s took a few tens of KiBs. In 1980s a Basic interpreter could run off 1 KiB of RAM. But now we have a spectrum of functions and complexity we deem vital, inevitable.
