Client-side E2E protects the content, but it doesn’t make topology entirely irrelevant. Independent relays with distinct keys also reduce metadata exposure—IP addresses, timing, traffic volume, and communication patterns—while preventing a single provider from holding all the information. Multi-hop on its own can be security theater; combined with real trust separation, minimal logging, and no plaintext on the relay, it still serves a concrete purpose.
