Personally I trust proton. It’s not my main VPN but I can tell you without a doubt that MANY of the main VPNs are selling your data.

Mullvad is the VPN for me. Obscura uses it also for its' second layer of obfuscation.

Proton's open source codebase is a step in the right direction, but true anonymity requires more than just a VPN, consider using Tor and a decentralized DNS resolver.
