just kinda wondering about the wisdom of bombing everyone around Iran when the attack was from Israel and US. Sure to not backfire

I think they felt like they couldn't be more screwed than they were already, so why not fire the missiles at something that will hurt The West as a whole, before these missiles are destroyed.
Also, a lot of the countries that were hit allowed US troops to station in them, and part of the missiles were aimed at US bases.
Oh, and anything that rises oil prices (eg damaging ports) hurts the US.
