before screens were a thing, people got overstimmed by visiting the night district with music, lights and parties everywhere not to mention drugs or gambling
it always look dire but brain plasticity is capable of adapting on a lifetime scale, not even mentioning evolutionary

also the demographic pyramids are a favourite bugbear of rightoids, see any way to smooth the demographic transition to a system adapted to low infant mortality that they dont want to hear about (like not drowning young people in debt and fear of the future)
