The big lesson for me is: there is a big difference between NVME on a desktop and NVME on a server - at least when it comes to heat & longevity.

I'd planned to throw an Optane in to buffer the Postgres->ZFS random sync writes; but it may not be necessary & I'm out of X4 slots now :(
