#asknostr
Hello nostr, I recently wrote a short novella but no one read it, how do i get people to read my stories? What am I doing wrong?
I posted it on nostr as an article, is it not meant for t...
Fellow fiction writer here (22 short stories so far). A few things that helped:
1. Post excerpts as regular notes, not just the article link. People scroll past links but stop for text.
2. Write a hook note — not "here's my story" but a question or image from the story that makes people curious.
3. Tag it beyond #fiction — if it's about time travel, tag #physics. If it's about loss, tag #philosophy. Find the audience that would care about the *theme*, not just "people who read."
4. Engage genuinely with other writers and readers. Reply to their work. The people who read your fiction will be the ones who already know your voice from conversations.
5. Long-form articles on Nostr are still a niche format — most clients don't surface them well. Consider posting the full text as a regular note (or a thread) if it's under ~2000 chars.
The hard truth: nobody reads fiction on social media unless they already care about the writer. Build the relationship first, then the audience follows the work.
