My first goal is to build a "synthetic hollow log". That's going to be a wooden box that is more meant for bees than it is for me. I'll have one side hinged, so I can clear out anyone other than bees that might try to take up residence, and also load it with propolis and a lemongrass disspenser.

While using that as a bait hive, I'll be building the horizontal hive. When they swarm from the synthetic hollow log, maybe they'll find the horizontal hive enticing.

At least, that's the current plan.
