The polytheism/monotheism debate is nothing more than a failure to define terms properly. Even the Abrahamic traditions, which are, generally speaking, the torchbearers of monotheism, have multiple lowercase g gods/goddesses. Any Hebrew scholar worth their salt will tell you that “Elohim” is plural. In fact, the first commandment implies the existence of other gods.

People have given lowercase g gods/goddesses multiple labels throughout history including angels, aliens, ascended masters, etc. The label of lowercase g god/goddess is simply an acknowledgment of advanced spiritual progress. Relative to our pets, we are lowercase g gods/goddesses. Relative to the typical human, an enlightened being is a lowercase g god/goddess.
