Spain has plenty of identity and class and regional tension, obviously. But the tone matters.
The Anglo template is: moral language, HR vocabulary, public denunciation rituals, purity tests.
Spanish social instinct is more: vacile, cynicism, social teasing, “no me vengas con cuentos,” and a strong nose for performative bullshit. People tolerate a lot, but they hate being lectured like children.

So when a Spanish politician talks like they swallowed a US campus, it reads as artificial. Not “progress.” More like “who is this person performing for?”
