I’m pro BIP-110 but wouldn’t throw all Core devs under the bus because every one I’ve met seems committed to the success of Bitcoin. I think the OP_RETURN mistake was a few developers and a governance/incentives problem. I even think the people involved were probably well intentioned, just misguided and perhaps as you pointed out misaligned with the monetary maximalist view of Bitcoin.
