Imagine what Asa Akira's timeline would look like after a few years on here. Sure I can mute them. The peanut gallery can see all the hate I don't. When we coded original Twitter in San Francisco back...
The concern with such features is abuse.
If we had them, some hater would have already used them to block *you*.
Big corporate social media (partly) prevents this by having teams of bots and sometimes humans verify complaints.
Nostr can't do this (well, maybe we do a little at the individual relay-operator level, its helpful to choose good relays).
I felt concern for the "peanut gallery" at first, just as you do. "What if they're seeing all the haters' posts, and I'm not able to debunk them?"
But I found feeding the trolls only encouraged them, and then Vitor introduced (in Amethyst) auto-muting based on reports from friends in your Web of Trust. IDK exactly how many clients share this feature now, but it means only really recent newcomers following you have to deal with the trash, nearly everyone else's client automutes them without seeing it.
So yeah, we do wipe people off curated timelines, its just that the curation is crowdsourced from your friends, depends on your reports, and doesn't work for really fresh newcomers.
I'm sure we will find even better tools in future
