It depends on the context obviously but in general I agree with you. I think it is good to have an idea of how to finish something but things also often change along the way. Once you actually get started you can try things and learn along the way, and you often need to adapt based on what you have learned to achieve the outcome.

Yes, if he'd spent evenjust a little time considering the goal and his actions, he might have modified these so as not to paint himself into a corner. Some goals and associated actions need more/less ongoing evaluation. I suppose wisdom and experience help decide when its best to get on with it, and...
