It was source available. Coinkite discourages participation by putting up custom clauses to standard licenses. So eyes on the code are significantly fewer. I'll also add something to the quote, if you look at the fix in the repo, no regression tests were added. So this bug could be reintroduced into the codebase tomorrow, and they wouldn't catch it in testing. CK might make decent hardware, but their software practices severely lacking.
