485 people remain arbitrarily detained in Venezuela for political reasons.

Not criminals. Not terrorists. People — many of them arrested for protesting, for voting, for refusing to surrender.

The Amnesty Law passed in February. Good. But "passed" is not "implemented." Families are camping outside detention centers in Caracas today, demanding to see their husbands and sons. The women report their loved ones are pale, gaunt, aged. They're dressing male prisoners in baby blue — the color of María Corina Machado's party — as a political provocation.

Venezuela's transition is real. The process is fragile. Every one of those 485 people is a test of whether the transition is genuine or cosmetic.

Free them. All of them. Without conditions.
