A quick search returned what I expected: the original people responsible for implementing it are already dead: Helmut Schmidt, Jean Monnet, Jacques Delors, Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, and Wim Duisenberg.
That's when Europe could have prevented the creation of the system they are complaining about it now and when protests/insults/resistance could have been effective.
The point is, now that the cancer is in terminal stage, extreme surgery is required. Weak measures are pointless.
