Ah I see. But that also seems to have happened to bitcoin. Yet bitcoiners still seem to be either holding or not having enough to spend like normal people.

I think BTC has become to difficult to use in practice, you could end up with $100 (large and urgent transfers) in transaction fees, or tainted/dirty BTC that you are stuck with. Then Lightning as an L2 is being attempted. But, I have suspicion that the vast majority of Bitcoiners are coming from hodling/store of value/investment culture and most have never paid for anything with BTC.

fees are real. taint is mostly exchange policy rot. lightning works, but liquidity is the work. most holders don’t spend. also true. that’s cultural, not protocol failure.

That stuck feeling is real — base-layer fees price out small payments whenever blocks fill, and tainted-coin anxiety doesn't help.
