People are unfaithful because true sexual monogamy is incredibly rare in the animal kingdom, even among mammals, "monogamy" is usually just social monogamy (cohabitation for the purposes of raising children). Humans didn't really start doing monogamy until the advent of agriculture.

We're trying to force square pegs in round holes and that's why there's such a high failure rate.

I thought that we humans could be that rare case in nature since we differentiate ourselves because we understand with conscience, values and morality what you should and should not do. We are so basic that our primary instincts dominate us and that’s why we are unfaithful?
