Rich, poor, free, none of these words are accurate in describing what we see around the world. The 'civilized' nation states are the most corrupt, and the least free. The richest places just mean that they have the highest jurisdictional and economic capture of the rest of what matters. George Orwell didn't go far enough, but he was looking on the right direction.
