The standard should be that Bitcoiners must learn to "always first ask if they can make payments with Bitcoin whenever they're making purchases, and must always first request to be paid in Bitcoin when they do business or render services"
There are millions of Bitcoiners, and just like you said merchants would learn that demand exists. It is only demand that yields adoption.
However, it is unfortunate that even Bitcoiners are now largely more interested in the next ATH, which kep relegating Bitcoin to "store of value," and that's the issue.
