The Monero community on here makes me feel hopeful. Where did you guys come from? Why did you gravitate towards Nostr?
I've been here for a couple years, always a Monero user.
Following you on Mastodon helped me convert to Nostr. It's the principles of freedom and autonomy -- shared by all Moneroans.
But If someone talked up Monero in the past here, everyone would slam them as poopcoiners, even though they share these principles.
Yet there's room for rational co-existence with BTC and XMR. No one (at least not me) cares to hear idolatrous talk of either, as if crypto will save society from all its ills, or how it will make them filthy rich.
Greed is not appealing, and the extreme BTC obsession hurts Nostr.
Conversely, talk of free, permissionless financial transactions -- by whatever means -- is more attractive, but more than that are communities of good people whose balanced lives aren't centered on crypto.
