In October, Albertans will have a referendum on whether they wish to have a referendum on becoming an independent state, separate from Canada.
A neighbor of mine, who I've been friendly with for year...
The Forever Canadian movement has been better funded and wasn’t subject to many of the fundraising restrictions I’ve heard that the third party advertisers for Alberta separation have been subject to since the start. It seems the algos are also heavily favoring a united Canada. YouTube searches yield scores of vids from CBC and others disparaging the separation movement. Overall, up here it really feels like a vacuum of information on the progress of the movement, and a lack of success at capturing the imaginations of new minds and fence sitters. Kind of a dismal marketing failure so far. Kind of a shame considering all the blood, sweat and tears that the organizers poured into a stellar petition signing effort.
Man, between this and holding our breath waiting to see how the BTC uasf plays out, it feels like uncertain times ahead. And more of the same wholesale looting of Alberta households.
