corrupt french politicians have just legalized spying on protestors - very common anti-protest tactic now - compromise phones: track location, activate mics and cameras, read messages

if you are protesting - anywhere in the world - leave your phone at home - if you need comms consider radios or buy a burner with cash

for secure messaging I recommend signal or simplex - disappearing messages enabled just in case someone gets arrested

Canada has been doing this for years now. They secretly used it to track peoples movements to determine if people may or may not have been infected by covid and whether people may have been involved in particular protests.

This will end up like the French version of the Canadian Trucker Protest. If they don't stop protesting in France, they will quickly see their bank accounts frozen and assets siezed.

In the case of nostr:npub1exv22uulqnmlluszc4yk92jhs2e5ajcs6mu3t00a6avzjcalj9csm7d828, there are no user IDs, so if you use a nym (or the native incognito mode) and the device is compromised, that adds an additional layer of protection.

Your cheapest option for a usable radio is going to be baofeng or talkpod. You will need some level of coordination ahead of time to get frequencies and tones right among the people you want to talk to.
