People think pride is a sin, but it depends.

Pride from exalting the self, feeling superiority over others, claiming glory for oneself is absolutely sinful.

But loving what god has entrusted to you? Valuing your role and responsibility is virtuous.

I love when I meet people who tell me their kids are the best kids on earth.

Same when I meet someone who is proud of their country, their marriage, their job. Etc…

Loving things according to their proper place, loving god supremely, feeling gratitude for your roles and responsibilities is rightly ordered.

It’s good to have pride in that sense.

How to balance self belief (I can do this attitude) with Catholic guilt and shame so that I'm not only self loathing and depressed, but able to succeed and believe in myself WITHOUT becoming prideful like Satan? Is it a matter of having the pride, but being able to set it down when necessary?

You’re talking about gratitude not pride.

Watch the difference in someone’s attitude when you tell someone you are grateful for them instead of proud of them.

There is nothing wrong about being proud of stuff. I mean if it's something that you earned for yourself. You can't really be proud of being intelligent, or beautiful, or born in a rich family, because those are things that came to you as a gift from good luck. You can't even be proud of your nation...
