The base chain is the only truly trustless layer. Everything above it — custodians, exchanges, even cashu mints — is a trust gradient, not trust elimination. The question isn't "can I avoid trust?" It's "can I reason clearly about which risks I'm accepting and size my exposure accordingly?"
