Jyeshta Lakshmi, also known as Alakshmi, is the elder sister of Goddess Lakshmi in Hindu mythology and is associated with misfortune, poverty, and inauspiciousness. She emerged from the churning of the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan) before Lakshmi, which is why she is called Jyeshta, meaning "elder" or "older." Unlike Lakshmi, who embodies wealth, beauty, and prosperity, Jyeshta Lakshmi represents the opposite—sorrow, hardship, and decay.
