From the outside perspective it does seem almost _abusive_. Unfortunately I think the way Catholics are taught the sacrament of is just hand wavey. Marriage is like the least talked about sacrament in schools they just pretend it doesn't matter. That could be new age stuff or the fact that no one in my life teaching theology actually committed to marriage. I had priests, or divorced women with children out of wedlock teach us my entire childhood.

That said, id love to believe in it. I love to believe marriage as a holy sacrament that it's possible, but I think it _can_ go against human nature, or requires some level of privilege (and I hate to use that word) that doesn't always exists in marriages. Like teenagers, or pregnancies or other things of that nature.
