Because when doing calculus with Zermelo–Fraenkel with Axiom of Choice (ZFC) division by zero is always undefined and only by taking a limit it diverges toward infinity. By that definition it can be chosen (axiom of choice), that multiplication by infinites is undefined as well, and only by taking a limit a converging result may be obtained.
