I think UBI could work if in tandem with UBI, other safety net programs such as unemployment, welfare, SNAP, etc are done away with. That way it removes the incentive to not work since those programs depend upon a beneficiary not working. It would be a more fair system that everyone benefits from, rather that selectively incentiving those at the bottom to continue not working and therefore perpetuates the problem rather than actually trying to solve one.

That being said, I've yet to see whether or not AI disrupts the workforce to the degree that AI companies are touting their products are going to do. Seems like a lot of marketing. I'd much rather first see the monetary system fixed that brings about far more exploitation and inequities in the world than any implementation of UBI on top of an already broken system.
