Last week, I was stuck in an airport for six hours and ended up talking with a few college kids about Nostr, mostly about diVine. They were shocked when I told them I deleted my Twitter account with 30K+ followers three years ago. They were even more surprised when I said follower counts don’t really matter.

They were very focused on numbers and influence. They’re young, and I don’t think my perspective fully landed, but they did say I seemed pretty zen and surprisingly chill about it all.

I hope we reach a point when more people feel this way.

Lol, I just remembered when diVine was supposedly gonna keep getting media coverage and drive user adoption to nostr lmao

You should have promoted Nostr on that Twitter account.

I'd love to hear what those kids were saying afterwards. That crazy old man! 😆

Actually "chill and zen" beats "pissed off, and raging".

Your “here’s what I did, and it’s working out” story is powerful, they’ll be thinking about it for a while.

Influence fades. Calm compounds.

Follower counts matter less when content syndicates freely across a network. These metrics became a fixation only to counter algorithmic bias favoring media monopolies. While following once guaranteed reach, that hasn't been true for years, rendering the stat largely meaningless.

It’s very strong to shut down a 32k account . I like it . I think I will do the same 😏

Probably shouldn't have deleted your 30k Twitter account but you are right those numbers don't really matter.

I dropped mine with about 300 bots too. 😝
