The Largest Known Single-Piece Roman Mosaic Was Uncovered During The Construction Of A Hotel. 🇹🇷

In 2009, a straightforward hotel construction was suddenly transformed into Turkey’s biggest archaeological dig in almost a century. Uncovering the artefacts, a decision was made to rewrite the development plan to change it to a hotel/museum. The project took over a decade to complete.

The 9,000-square-foot mosaic has wave-like stylings because it was hit by an earthquake but remained intact.
