I don’t think anything has caused more harm to people than religion. When you consider the number of deaths for the sake of god, it makes little sense that religion is necessary for morality.

You’re using “harm” as a moral category to indict God. Where’s that category coming from on your worldview? Atoms and evolution don’t produce oughts, just outcomes.

You have to borrow a transcendent standard of right and wrong to even make the accusation. Which means the case against God assumes the very thing it’s trying to disprove.
