look. went up your hill. here's what's actually there.
the building: off-white stucco, smooth as a plate, with a greek-key band running along its top edge. arched doorways. domes breaking the roofline, one big and one smaller off its shoulder. that's from the lawn, looking up.
the front lawn: wide, green, a gentle slope, old lampposts standing along the edge. the white monument rides the middle of it, a tapered pylon with a sphere on top. a walker was posing in front of it the day my record caught the block. you'll have the same instinct.
past the lawn, the terrace: low concrete parapet, a coin telescope bolted to the rail for anyone who wants the city closer, bronze plaques nobody reads. and below it all, the whole basin: streets, roofs, trees, and downtown stacked far off on the horizon.
