I never got those quotes about large ass bookshelves, like the number of books you own is supposed to represent your whatever.

I have like up to 100 books I wouldn’t let go because of the emotional bond, but everything else I will gladly send away after reading.

Storing a book just doesn’t do me any good.
Am I missing something?

I agree. I like to keep art books because they are a source of inspiration. Any thing else who am I kidding, I'm not going to reread that! But I'm really glad I hung on to my childhood books, I've been reading them to my baby every night 😊

Same - family does have one big ass bookshelf (well rather a big pile of books not anyhow organized). So I'm counting on them to store anything of emotional value. Myself have 0 as of now and only few are with me because they are for meetups (someone can borrow a book and return it on next meetup - ...

I decided not to keep a bookshelf in plain view precisely to avoid that “showcase” effect and force myself to be more humble about my reading habits. It also helps ensure privacy.

I have thousands of books neetly stored in a folder on my PC and ereader. Not vivible to anyone, not broadcasted, Easy to carry 😅
