a part of branding is setting you apart from your generic competitors. yet the vast majority of marketers and brand people worship the same five people and the same five books, attend the same conferences, and listen to the same pods. it’s no wonder medium and large brands feel so flat today.

it’s similar with hiring. they want fresh ideas, but they’re not ready for the occasional dirt that comes with trying them out.

agreed, it’s definitely a field-dependent thing. the more the job is about communication, presentation, PR, people skills, and stuff like that, the harder they want you to linkedIn.

Man, I must confess sometimes I miss the old fashioned office drama, it feels like watching a reality show, and if you can manage to keep yourself out of it, it’s not that hard to watch it from the sidelines with some popcorn in your hand :)
